Kobanê Institution of Martyrs' Families executive İbrahim Muslim told that they waited for support for over 600 children that lost their parents at the 25 June massacre committed by ISIS gangs against civilians. "We all have responsibility for them. All our people should embrace them", he said.
Remarking that the children of those martyred in the battle and most recent massacre in Kobanê were entrusted to the people of Kurdistan, Muslim said over a thousand children have suffered a great pain and trauma. Muslim said their institution worked to meet all the needs of these children, adding that they needed support from all the Kurdistan people, their friends and international organizations for medium and long term plannings.
The 25 June massacre by ISIS in Kobanê left dozens of children dead and hundreds of others parentless. A committee formed by Kobanê Institution of Martyrs' Families soon after the massacre has established 600 children who lost their parents in the savage mass killing by inhumane gangs.
Besides meeting the urgent needs of these children, Kobanê Institution of Martyrs' Families is also working on projects for their future. The Institution undertakes the care and education of the children whose parents were martyred in the battle since the beginning of the revolution. With the most recent attack and massacre, the number of children left parentless rose over a thousand.
Institution executive İbrahim Muslim who spoke to ANF told that dozens of children at the ages from 1 to 11 years were massacred in this most recent massacre, so savage that most of them were unrecognizable.
A great trauma
Highlighting the great trauma and pain suffered by the children, Muslim said; "The children were greatly affected by losing their parents and witnessing a massacre. Most of them lost both their mothers and fathers, while the others either of them. This is why they are suffering a great trauma and pain."
Over a thousand children
Muslim informed that their Institution both met the urgent needs of these children and worked on projects for their future, adding; "Almost all of them are living with their relatives now. Over a thousand children in Kobanê are orphan, and these also include the children of numerous fighters and friends who were martyred since the beginning of the revolution in Kobanê. The needs of all of them are being met by our institution."
Remarking that the Institution formed a committee which ascertained the material needs of these children, Muslim said they primarily provided health, food and clothing needs of the children, and will themselves continue meeting their needs.
The Institution has limited means
Regarding the medium term plannings of the Institution, Muslim said the followings; "We are planning to build a park and playground for these children, and to provide them with psychological and pedagogic support they need to overcome the trauma they have gone through. We are also planning to open a academy to provide mother-tongue education for them."
Muslim pointed out that the Institution has limited means not sufficing to do all these by themselves, stressing that; "International humanitarian organizations and our people in four parts of Kurdistan should provide support for the development and needs of the children of martyrs."
Primary needs
Muslim stated that there was currently a need for people to answer these children's needs for food, health and clothing and psychological support at the first stage, adding that they would also need support for the long term plans, which include an academy and playground.
People of Kurdistan should help these children
Calling out to the Kurdistan people in four parts, Muslim put emphasis on the importance of sensitivity regarding the children of the martyrs, adding; "The parents of these children left their children behind for a free future and life. We must therefore create a free suture for these children. We are waiting for your support for the children of Kobanê."
