Sulaymaniyah people protest against Turkish attacks

Thousands of people protested in Sulaymaniyah against the invasion of Southern Kurdistan by the Turkish army. The KDP party, dominated by the Barzani family, was called "traitors" for collaborating with the Erdogan government.

In Sulaymaniyah city in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq), thousands of people took to the streets under the slogan "Defend Kurdistan against treason!" The demonstration on Tuesday evening was directed against the Turkish invasion of the Medya Defense Zones and the active support of the military operation by the corrupt Barzani clan. The demonstrators showed solidarity with the guerrillas defending Kurdistan against NATO's second largest army and called for unity among all Kurdish forces. The Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was insulted in slogans as a "terrorist", and flags with the image of Abdullah Öcalan were carried at the demonstration.

The Bashur People's Initiative condemned the Turkish state's occupation attacks on the guerrilla areas in Southern Kurdistan and stated, "We also condemn the KDP’s betrayal. The PKK protects the values of the Kurdish people and we stand behind the guerrillas and the Kurdistan Liberation Movement." The statement called on the people and political organizations to stand united against "betrayal and occupation."
