As the onslaught under the name of curfew continues in Şırnak's Cizre district for the 46th uninterrupted day, local people are suffering a never-ending violation of their basic rights, including the right to life and health.
While attacks by state forces are going on ceaseleslly, tragedy continues in the basement where 28 slain and wounded people remain trapped for the past 6 days.
Out of these 28 people who got wounded as a result of artillery fire on houses in Cudi neighborhood, yet another one has died today.
With this most recent death, death toll among the 28 wounded civilians rose to 6 due to an ongoing denial of urgent access to treatment during the past 6 days. There are now 22 people with wounds in the basement where conditions are getting severer every passing hour as Turkish state forces continue to shell the neighborhood with tank and mortar fire.
HDP Şırnak MP Faysal Sarıyıldız who is in Cizre himself said ambulances managed to reach the street near the basement three times since early this morning, but were sent back as each time military vehicles started to open fire towards the area in an effort to make it look like there are “heavy clashes” going on there. Sarıyıldız said this was happening despite the police and local administrators being informed about the dispatchment of ambulances.
HDP MP said one of those in the basement has sent him a SMS this morning, which said “They are trying to kill us one by one. Another one of us has died”.
Sarıyıldız also reported that ambulances of Cizre Municipality were waiting in Dörtyol area this morning when armored vehicles in the area suddenly started to fire around. He said this was filmed by pro-government media workers waiting ready in the area, who reported the incident as “ambulances cannot enter the neighborhood due to clashes”.
He noted that the gunfire by Turkish forces stopped after the return of ambulances back to the municipality.
