Attacks of Turkish forces against civilian settlements in North Kurdistan continue increasingly.
Following the crackdown by the AKP police against the local people in Muş, Amed and Şırnak, police forces launched operations against three neighbourhoods in Yüksekova district of Hakkari this morning to close the trenches dug by the local people in order to prevent the attacks. Following the clashes between self-defense units and the police forces, the police were repelled from the neighbourhoods.
Special operation units entered the neighbourhoods of Orman, Mezarlık and Kışla in Yüksekova to close the trenches dug by the inhabitants in order for self-defence in the face of ongoing attacks by security forces. Clashes broke out in the neighbourhoods between the self-defence forces of the town and security forces.
According to the information obtained from Old Kışla neighbourhood's mukhtar (the administrative head of the settlement), Necmenttin Akdoğan, police units entered the neighbourhoods with armoured vehicles from the side of the town cemetery located on the road to Şemdinli.
“The youth in the neighbourhood responded to police attacks. Armed clashes took place for a while. We have no losses, but the windows of the People’s House were broken. Police have retreated and the neighbourhood is calm for the moment”, said Akdoğan.
In the meantime, police forces had to retreat from the other two neighbourhoods as well, according to the incoming reports.
