Police attacked the people who gathered in Yüksekova (Gever) district of Hakkari to protest Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu who will be joining the opening of an airport in the afternoon.

Clashes erupted as the mass responded to the police attack by throwing stones.

Youths have built up barricades with containers on streets against the police crackdown with armored vehicles and water cannons.

Tensions in the district are rising as police resort to further violence to disperse the crowd, targeting them with tear gas and rubber bullets.
