Police and military forces accompanied by tanks launched an attack on Orman, Yeşildere, Mezarlık and Dize neighborhoods in Yüksekova district of Hakkari.

Police and soldiers were led by special operation teams as they entered the neighborhoods in a number of armored vehicles Monday afternoon. Armed clashes erupted in the mentioned areas soon after, as self-defense units responded to the attacks with guns.

In the meantime, it is reported that a mortar shell has been fired on Orman neighborhood from the district Gendarmerie Command, which hit and damaged a house.

Heavy armed clashes in the district continue.
