'PKK has never been a terrorist organization’
Zoroastrian Representative Awat Hîsamedîn declared that they backed the international effort to remove the PKK from the "terrorist" list, emphasizing that the PKK was never a terrorist organization.
The International Justice for Kurds Initiative’s appeal to get the PKK removed from the list of "terrorist organizations" is still ongoing. 1003 intellectuals, academics, politicians, scientists, artists, and socialist activists from 30 countries in Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa initiated the movement, which aims for 4 million signatures across Europe.
Awat Hîsamedîn, the Kurdistan Regional Government's Zoroastrian Representative, spoke to ANF about the matter.
Awat Hîsamedîn, who signed the petition to remove the PKK from the list of terrorist organizations, stated that the PKK is not and will never be a "terrorist" movement and that the Kurdish people do not occupy anyone's land and wish to live freely on their own.
THE PKK IS A GUISE, THE MAIN TARGET IS THE KURDISH PEOPLE
Reacting to the Turkish state's invasion attacks, Hîsamedîn said, "The Turkish state is continuously looking for justifications for its actions, and the PKK is one of them. With this justification, it ravaged thousands of villages and outlawed the Kurdish language and culture. The PKK justification is never true; the true goal is the Kurdish people. European countries, as well as Turkey, are involved. They added the PKK to the terrorist list at the request of Turkey's government. In other words, they added it to the terrorist organization list in order to protect the Turkish state's interests. But there is a reality: the PKK has never been, and will never be, a terrorist organization. Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of 60 million Kurds, is currently incarcerated. It is not acceptable," he said.
WOMEN IN PARTICULAR SHOULD TAKE PART IN THE PETITION
Awat Hîsamedîn stated unequivocally that they will continue to support the ongoing petition in South Kurdistan. Noting that the PKK has developed a new model of struggle, Hîsamedîn concluded her address with the following words: "Women participate in the PKK's fight in the same way that men do. Women, like men, take up arms to defend their country and territory. In this way, Kurdish women are leading the world's women. That is why we, particularly women, should support and participate in the petition to remove the PKK from the list of terrorist organizations."
