People of South Kurdistan demanded an immediate end to the Turkish state’s occupation of South Kurdistan and Iraq, and said that Turkey wants to join Mosul operation in order for a permanent occupation in the region.

People of South Kurdistan demanded an immediate end to the Turkish state’s occupation of South Kurdistan and Iraq, and said that Turkey wants to join Mosul operation in order for a permanent occupation in the region.

Abdulhalik Abdullah, a citizen of South Kurdistan, said Turkey’s presence in Iraq and South Kurdistan constitutes an occupation, and emphasized that Erdoğan and the AKP government support ISIS. Abdullah said “The Turkish state has been supporting ISIS since the beginning of Rojava Revolution, and now claims to be helping Kurds in South Kurdistan. This is far from credible.” Abdullah added that Turkey’s presence in Syria and Iraq were clearly acts of occupation.

Abdullah continued: “AKP policies aim to kill Kurds in all parts of Kurdistan. The fascist system that kills and imprisons Kurds in North Kurdistan is attempting to do the same in all parts of Kurdistan."

"TURKEY WANTS TO ANNEX MOSUL"

Another citizen Eyüp Kakeyi described Turkey’s insistence on joining Mosul operation as an Ottoman sickness and said: “Turkish troops' arrival in Bashiqa has nothing to do with the liberation of the Mosul people. Turkey sees Mosul as its own. Therefore, we Kurds do not want Turkish soldiers in Kurdistan and Iraq. We see them as occupants."

"WE WANT GUERILLAS TO JOIN THE OPERATION"

Yusuf Nasih stated that the PKK must participate in Mosul operation, and the majority of the South Kurdistan people would like to see the guerrillas take their role in the operation.

Nasih said Turkey’s main concern was to prevent the guerrillas from participating in the operation, adding: “I hope all the Kurdish politicians acknowledge the guerrillas’ role in the fight against ISIS and act accordingly."

Lastly, Nasih described Turkey’s only goal in wanting to participate in Mosul Operation as to divide Kurdistan further and continue to colonize it.
