Military operations go on despite ceasefire

Turkish army is conducting military operations against the Kurdish guerrillas despite Kurdistan Workers Party’s (PKK) ceasefire declaration.

The military wing of the PKK, People’s Defense Forces (HPG) said Turkish army launched two major operations in Sirnak and Van against the Kurdish guerrillas.

According to HPG’s statement Turkish army conducted a military operation in Besta region of Sirnak on August 17. The operational forces withdrew to their bases before dusk. The area was bombarded by the Turkish artillery yesterday morning.

Turkish army also conducted another operation in the territory between Baskale and Ozalp, both are towns of Van province.

There were no reports of causalities in both operations.

In another development Turkish artillery bombarded Zap area, inside Iraq borders yesterday. No one was hurt in result of the bombing.
