Man wounded in armed attack by soldiers taken under surgery

Sabri Morkoç who was wounded in yesterday's armed attack by Turkish soldiers, which targeted a civil minibus travelling in Gundik (Koyunlu) village in Göle district of Ardahan, has been taken under surgery.

Five people were traveling in the minibus when it was targeted by soldiers of the Turkish army taking part in a military operation yesterday.

The attack at 8 am in the morning was conducted by a group of soldiers that had been dispatched from Erzurum, Ardahan and Göle three days ago and taken up position for a military operation in a forestland at Erzurum border.

While three villagers in the minibus suffered injuries in the armed attack, the driver, Altan Akın, managed to drive the car to Göle Public Hospital with the wounded in it.

70 years old Kamber Morkoç couldn't survive despite all the medical efforts at hospital, while 40 years old Sabri Morkoç was wounded in the chest and 35 years old Altan Akın in the stomach.

Sabri Morkoç, who was referred to Erzurum Atatürk University Medical Faculty Research Hospital following an immediate medical response in Göle district hospital, was taken under surgery. Wounded in the stomach and ribs, the man is reported to be remaining in critical condition.

On the other hand, Kamber Morkoç's daughters Emine and Harika Morkoç, who were also in the minibus targeted by soldiers, survived the attack with slight injuries, while Kurtuluş Morkoç and driver Altan Akın are both reported in good state of health.
