Free Women’s Congress (KJA) called upon all international human rights organizations, observers’ delegations and press to investigate the massacres and human rights violations in Silopi and the rest of Kurdistan.
KJA issued a written statement on the ongoing war and the attacks of security forces in Şırnak’s Silopi district and the rest of Kurdistan. In its statement, KJA emphasized that the Turkish state refused to negotiate, insisted on isolating the PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, carried out bombardments and political military operations, burned forests, performed sexual violence on women and massacred civilians after the general elections on June 7.
'POLICY OF VIOLENCE AND DESTRUCTION TOWARDS CIVILIANS’
KJA stated that the state was implementing the policy of violence and destruction towards civilians in Silopi where 4 civilians have been murdered and 28 people have been detained over the past 2 weeks. KJA noted that the actual number of injured civilians could not be determined due to the security personnel’s’ arrests of wounded civilians.
KJA emphasized that residents of Silopi could not get out of their houses due to the threats of special operations teams, gendarme forces and police officers, and added that these inhumane policies have also been implemented in other Kurdish cities. KJA ended its statement by calling upon all international human rights organizations, observers’ delegations and press to urgently investigate the massacres and human rights violations in Silopi and the rest of Kurdistan.
