KCK issues call for national unity and national congress
KCK called on democratic community organizations, women and youth, legal institutions and personalities, opinion leaders of all faiths, labor organizations, free and democratic press, and all Kurdish friends to support the work for national unity.
The KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council Co-presidency made a written statement on the initiative taken by artists and intellectuals to build national unity and organise a national congress.
The KCK wrote: "In recent years, the situations faced by the Kurdish people in all parts of Kurdistan have increased the longing for national unity and national congress. In particular, the attitude of the Turkish state in recent years, the attacks and the invasion of Rojava have put the need of a national congress for national unity on the agenda of the Kurdish people."
The KCK added: "The fact that artists and intellectuals, who are the spokespersons of the people's conscience and emotions, supported the agenda of national unity is a great contribution to building national unity. Throughout history, artists and intellectuals have been the ones who first expressed the aspirations of the people, those who claimed those aspirations and paid the price. Kurdish artists and intellectuals have strengthened the national feeling, which is the most basic need of the Kurds, with a stance equivalent to their historical mission."
The KCK underlined that "it hurts to see that while the Kurdish people demand national unity with great longing, the political parties and forces cannot provide it."
The KCK reminded that "the fact that artists and intellectuals are turning the national unity agenda into the main agenda will be further strengthened by the national unity march in Europe on 7 December. We also welcome the organizers and participants of this march. These initiatives will further strengthen the efforts towards national unity and national congress."
The KCK ended its remarks by saying: "We believe that the efforts of artists and intellectuals towards national unity will have significant results. These works of artists and intellectuals have shown that the national unity agenda is too important to be left to politicians alone. In this respect, we call on all democratic community organizations, women and youth organizations, legal institutions and personalities, institutions and opinion leaders of all faiths, labor organizations, free and democratic press, and all Kurdish friends to support the work for national unity carried out by artists and intellectuals."
