KCK: Hundreds of thousands should go to Amara

The KCK Executive Council Co-presidency has called for mass participation in the ongoing marches to celebrate Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s birthday.

The KCK Executive Council Co-presidency has issued a written statement to celebrate the birthday of Abdullah Öcalan on 4 April, calling for mass participation in the ongoing marches to celebrate Kurdish People's Leader's birthday.

‘He developed a consciousness of resistance and freedom'

The KCK Executive Council Co-presidency statement said that leader Apo had developed a consciousness of resistance and freedom at a time when the state was trying to eradicate the Kurdish people and when no one could dare to raise the Kurdish question.

"Leader Apo, who was affected by the global wave of revolution in 1968, took as a basis the revolutionary spirit of 1971 in Turkey and the legacy of the struggle for freedom and socialism developed by Deniz, Mahir, İbrahim and their comrades. The whole life of Leader Apo has been devoted to realising the ideal of democracy and freedom. He has developed the idea of democratic confederalism against the savage neo-liberal policies of capitalism, and created an ideology of women's liberation that has made women a leading force in the resistance in Kurdistan."

‘Step up the resistance'

The statement added that for leader Apo life means to struggle for freedom and that it was therefore significant that the people should celebrate his birthday as a day of freedom. The statement concluded by calling on hundreds of thousands of people to go to Amara to celebrate Apo's birthday, and to step up the resistance.
