The KCK Executive Council has condemned the brutal murder of Özgecan Aslan, adding that enemies of women who do not treat women as human beings gain strength and encouragement from the mentality and practice of the AKP.
The KCK condemned those who raped and murdered Özgecan Aslan and offered its condolences to her family and all women in struggle, saying that: “The extent of the 5,000-year-old male dominated system under the oligarchic fascist AKP regime has once again been revealed.”

The KCK statement said that there was no doubt enemies of women who do not treat women as human beings gain strength and encouragement from the mentality and practice of the AKP. It emphasised that the level of freedom of society and of men was directly linked to the level of women’s freedom.
“For this reason leader Apo has put so much time and effort into the question of the freedom of women. The struggle waged by the Kurdistan Women’s Movement, in Sinjar and Kobanê in particular, are of the utmost importance,” the statement continued.
The KCK statement concluded by saying that the brutal murder of Özgecan Aslan should be seen as a reason by everyone to revolt. “We once again offer our condolences to Özgecan’s family and pledge to honour her memory by stepping up the freedom struggle,” the statement ended.
