KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council Co-Presidency has released a statement vehemently condemning the Anfal genocide perpetrated by the colonial Iraqi state in South Kurdistan 27 years ago.

Commemorating the tens of thousands of victims with respect and gratefulness, KCK vowed to keep the memory of the martyrs alive by protecting the existence, freedom and gains of the Kurdish people.

The statement stressed that the states that colonized Kurdistan perpetrated the policies of cultural and social genocide against Kurdish people with the support they received from hegemonic powers.

The KCK statement underlined that; "Kurds have continuously mounted resistance against such cruel policies in four parts of Kurdistan. However, colonial states have carried out a relentless genocide against Kurds with the courage they took from international powers that value their dirty interests above all kinds of human values, aiming to weaken the Kurds completely and destroy them by means of such cruel ways and methods. These policies and practices, which do not belong to only one state, were implemented by colonial powers in all four parts of Kurdistan in different ways during the 20th century. These massacres which took place as a consequence of the nation-state mentality of the capitalist modernity were practically considered normal by international powers and evaded with criticism and reaction lacking efficiency and deterrence."

KCK Executive Council Co-Presidency pointed out that Kurds have become stronger and invincible against these attacks today as guerrillas are manifesting an undefeated will and waging a struggle in four parts of Kurdistan with a determination to assure the national existence of the Kurdish people on the basis of democracy and freedoms.

"The genocides, massacres and pains experienced in four parts of Kurdistan are being eased and crowned today with the freedom and democracy struggle, KCK said, emphasizing that creating a free Kurdistan and democratic Middle East would be the greatest return to the martyrs of Kurdistan.

Remarking that the Kurdish people stood at a point closer than ever to accomplish their goals and longing, KCK ended its statement by once again commemorating all the martyrs that enabled this with respect and gratefulness.
