Political prisoners in Mardin and Adýyaman prisons have announced an alternate indefinite hunger strike in protest against the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Following a protest action by rejecting weekly family visits, PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) and PJAK (Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan) prisoners in Mardin E-Type Closed Prison have announced a hunger strike through their families. Prisoners remarked that they had also sent letters and petitions to many authorities including CPT, Embassies, Turkish President, Prime Minister and Ministry of Justice to demand an end to the isolation which- they underlined- is a crime against humanity.
Political prisoners in Adýyaman E-Type Closed Prison have also begun an alternate indefinite hunger strike act with the same purpose.
On the other hand, 38 prisoners who have been under disciplinary proceeding owing to the hunger strike act they started on April 7 were denied their demand to defend themselves in their mother tongue Kurdish before the court.
