Iraqi troops block Yazidi youth marching for Öcalan’s freedom in Shengal

The Yazidi youth movement is staging a long march for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan in Shengal. The Iraqi military intervened and wanted to ban the Öcalan pictures.

The Yazidi youth movement is protesting with a long march in Shengal (Sinjar) against the international conspiracy that led to the abduction of Abdullah Öcalan to Turkey on 15 February 1999.

The young activists carry pictures of the PKK co-founder, who has been imprisoned for 23 years, and flags of the Shengal autonomous administration. Iraqi military forces blocked their way and demanded that the Öcalan pictures be removed. The youth activists responded by chanting slogans and continued their march.
