In Ilam suicide rates increased because of economical crisis

The news website 'Rahana' writes today that in Ilam, in Iran, at least 11 people have taken their lives as a result of the economic crisis which led to high unemployment. In an open session of Iran’s Parliament, Ilam’s representative, Dariush Ghanbari referred to Article 28 of Iran’s Constitution and warned that “the government has the responsibility of providing jobs for everyone and although many parliament members have complained about the unemployment problem in their speeches, the government has done nothing to improve the situation.”

As a member of the Social Committee of Parliament, Ghanbari stated that “it is unfortunate that we witness many difficulties including an increase in suicide rate.” According to him, “while we are morally and legally bound to find a solution for this problem, there have already been 11 suicide cases in Ilam.”
