Hunger strike in Hewlêr reached day 50

The hunger strike action was taken over by the 25th group of activists.

The hunger strike launched by HDP Southern Kurdistan Office in Hewlêr (Erbil) against the isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan has reached day 50. 

The hunger strike action was taken over by the 25th group of activists.

Activists said their action will continue as long as the isolation imposed on Öcalan continue and HDP Southern Kurdistan Representative Abid İke said activists would expand their actions in different ways.

“We want to expand our actions. - he said - We want to launch a signature campaign to condemn the Turkish state's repression against our members in Bakur (Northern Kurdistan).”

Ike pointed out the alliance made by the Kurdish parties in Bakur and said: “The alliance of Kurdish parties and organizations to reduce the power of Erdoğan is very important. All parties in Bakur should react against the Turkish state attitude and actions.”

HDP member Nasır Yağız, who continued an indefinite hunger strike has also reached day 50 of his action.
