Hunger strike in Hewler on day 87

As the hunger strike against the isolation continues in Hewler on day 87, the 44th group has taken over the protest. A KNK committee visited the hunger strike activists.

The hunger strike started under the lead of HDP Bashure Kurdistan representation office on November 21 continues on day 87. The 44th group took over the hunger strike in Hewler following a statement issued today.

HDP member Nasir Yagiz has been on an indefinite nonalternating hunger strike for these 87 days. He continues his protest despite his deteriorating health. Yagiz has high morale despite his health, and says he will continue his protest to the end.

IKE: YAGIZ’S HEALTH IS AT CRITICAL STAGE BUT HIS MORALE IS HIGH

HDP representation’s Co-chair Abid Ike spoke about Nasir Yagiz’s condition and said his situation is critical, but he has high morale and great resolve.

Ike said: “Nasir Yagiz is having trouble sleeping, which affects his health further. He has extreme headaches and stomach pains. Despite all, Yagiz has a very strong will.”

KNK VISIT

A KNK committee visited the hunger strikes today to show support. KNK Member Sukrullah Heme Emin spoke at the visit and said: “It has been 20 years since the plot against Leader Apo, who is still under a strict isolation. The Turkish state wants to quiet the Kurdish people, but they must know that they can never prevail.”

HDP Hewler Representative Muzeyen Gunes also spoke and said the resistance will continue as long as the isolation does. Gunes added: “All political parties and institutions in Bashur must pressure the Turkish state against the isolation.  The isolation against Leader Apo must end at once.”
