HPG reports Turkish attacks on guerrilla areas despite the earthquake disaster

The People's Defence Forces reported that the invading Turkish army continues its attacks despite the devastating earthquakes that claimed thousands of lives.

The Press Centre of the People's Defence Forces (HPG) released a statement concerning the ongoing Turkish attacks on the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

The HPG statement on Friday said: “The invading Turkish army continues its attacks amid the quakes that have led to great destruction. Our resistance positions were bombed with banned bombs and heavy weapons. Our forces had to defend themselves against these attacks.

The details of the Turkish attacks are as follows:

Zap region

The invading forces bombed our resistance positions near the village of Sida in the Sheladize sub-district of Amadiya at 11:30 on February 9. Our forces defended themselves and one enemy sniper was killed.

Attacks by the Turkish army

On February 9, our resistance positions around the Çemço region in the Sheladize sub-district of Amadiya and the Sîda village were bombed twice with banned weapons.

On February 9, our resistance positions around the Girê FM Resistance Area, as well as the Çemço region and the village of Sîda were bombed dozens of times with howitzers, tanks and heavy weapons.”
