Codename: Argeş Hewraman
Full name: Iqbal Edwayi

Parents' names: Ayşe – Muhiyeddin
Date and place of death: March 22, 2025 / Xakurke
Argeş Hewraman, born in Merîwan in Eastern Kurdistan (Rojhilat), grew up in a patriotic family. From an early age, he developed a strong attachment to the ideals of the Kurdish freedom movement. Having experienced cultural oppression and linguistic discrimination within state educational institutions, he developed a profound rejection of the ruling system.
Influenced by international solidarity with the Kurdish movement and by the self-sacrifice actions protesting Abdullah Öcalan’s isolation, Argeş Hewraman decided to dedicate his life to the struggle for freedom and justice. He joined the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) at a young age, leaving his university studies behind to enter the ranks of the Kurdish freedom guerrilla.
In 2010, his life in the mountains began. With great enthusiasm and a strong willingness to learn, Argeş Hewraman completed numerous ideological and military trainings and was highly respected for his humility, integrity, and deep loyalty to his comrades. He was especially noted for his unwavering determination to resist the pressure and attacks of the Turkish army.
His journey took him through various aspects of the freedom struggle: from organizational work in cities to militia activities and armed resistance in the mountains. In battle, he demonstrated great bravery and significantly contributed to the successful execution of strategic guerrilla operations. His great role model was guerrilla commander Zîlan (Zeynep Kınacı), whose spirit of sacrifice deeply inspired him.
In recent years, Argeş Hewraman was actively involved in the resistance against the Turkish occupation in Xakurke. With his military expertise, vigilance, and deep sense of responsibility, he helped inflict heavy losses on the occupying forces.
"Comrade Argeş was an outstanding revolutionary of the Apoist tradition: sincere, humble, selfless, and carried by unwavering loyalty to the ideals of freedom. His sudden death has deeply shaken his comrades. However, we reaffirm our determination to continue his struggle. Argeş Hewraman will live on in our fight for a free Kurdistan. In his spirit and with his spirit of sacrifice, we will carry the revolutionary flag high," the HPG declared in their tribute.
