HPG: 8 Turkish soldiers were killed in guerrilla actions

Eight more members of the occupation forces were killed in guerrilla actions as the resistance against Turkish invasion in guerrilla areas continues unabated.

In a statement about the ongoing war in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq), the Press Centre of the People's Defence Forces (HPG) reported ongoing guerrilla actions by the HPG and YJA Star (Free Women's Troops) against the Turkish occupation forces.

HPG provided the following information on the guerrilla actions in different areas as well as on the latest attacks by the Turkish army:

Avashin

On 26 August, an occupier was shot dead by a sniper in the Tabura Ereban resistance area.

Metina

In the Girê Ortê resistance area, YJA Star guerrillas carried out a sabotage operation against the occupation forces on Saturday and three soldiers were killed.

Gire Cudi Resistance Area in Şehîd Delîl, western Zap region

On 26 August, guerrillas struck Turkish positions with heavy weapons and damaged three of them.

On 26 August, a sabotage action by YJA Star guerrillas left three soldiers dead.

On 26 August, another soldier was shot dead by YJA Star snipers.

Helicopter movements took place in the area on 27 August night. A helicopter on a mission to airdrop troops in the area was intervened by the guerrillas with heavy weapons.

Attacks by the Turkish army

HPG reported 2 airstrikes on the Kanîsarkê area in Gare by fighter jets on 25 August, and artillery attacks on the regions of Zap, Şehid Delil, Metina and Xakurke.
