HPG: 14 soldiers killed in actions by guerrillas

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office stated that artillery, mortar and tank fires, and aerial activities of the Turkish army continue.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office released a statement detailing the ongoing attacks by Turkish military and actions by guerrillas.

HPG remarked that artillery, mortar and tank fires, and aerial activities of the Turkish army continue, and provided the following details;

Troops at Bêzelê guard post at the border to Zagros region of Medya Defense Zones shelled Dola Kewê area between 13:00 – 15:00 on August 7. The bombardment started a fire in the area.

Troops at Garê Regiment at the border to Xakurke area shelled Bere Kewkê and Çiyayê Karker areas between 15:00 – 16:00 on August 7.

Troops at Hill Çete guard post at the border to Heftanin shelled Derye Davetiya and Kelik areas at 17:00 on August 7 and at 03:00 on August 8.

Troops at Bilican guard post at the border to Zap region shelled surrounding areas between 19:00 – 20:00 on August 7.

Troops at Eriş guard post at the border to Zap region shelled Çaçeri and Yektari areas between 13:00 - 14:00 on August 7.

Troops at Aruş guard post at the border to Metina area shelled Hill Kureşino area between 15:00 – 16:00, and Komando area between 18:00 - 19:00 on August 7.

HPG reported that an activity of Turkish warplanes took place over;

Xakurke, Avashin and Zap areas of Medya Defense Zones between 12:00 – 14:00 on August 7,

Avashin area at 07:00 on August 8.

On the other hand, Turkish UAVs performed reconnaissance flights over;

Metina area between 04:30 – 07:00 on August 7,

Zap region between 07:00 – 16:00 on August 7 and between 02:00 – 12:00 on August 8,

Tendürek area of Ağrı between 10.30 – 15.00 on August 7,

Şêx Cuma guard post surroundings between 20:00-00:0 on August 7.

Deliberate fire opened by troops at Şêx Cuma guard post in Bitlis started a fire in the area, which still continues.

GUERRILLA ACTIONS CONTINUE

HPG stated that actions by guerrillas in response to the attacks by Turkish army also continue, providing the following details as to the actions carried out by guerrillas against Turkish forces;

HAKKARİ

Action by guerrillas targeted a convoy of armored and civilian vehicles of the Turkish army near Yeni Köprü guard post on Hakkari-Yüksekova road at 10:00 on August 5. A minibus transporting soldiers was completely destroyed, which left six soldiers dead, including one commissioned officer and two specialist sergeants.

While the number of the wounded, which were too many, couldn't be verified, Turkish army launched an operation in the area following the action.

An armed action by guerrillas targeted the Efeler Battalion in Yüksekova district of Hakkari at 15:15 on August 7, as a result of which one soldier was killed and five others were wounded. The casualties of the Turkish army were transported from the scene in helicopters.

The road between Gewriya Cuhiya and Bêzelê in Şemdinli district remains under the control of guerrillas.

SİİRT

A sabotage action by guerrillas targeted the radar station in Gökçebağ town of Siirt at 22:45 on August 6. guerrillas also found and seized some munitions belonging to the Turkish military. An operation launched by Turkish troops in this area on August 7 still continues.

A suicide action and rocket attack by guerrillas targeted the Şuxan guard post in Perwari district of Siirt at 19:20 on August 7. One soldier was killed in the action after which Turkish helicopters opened fire on the area.

BİTLİS

A sabotage action by guerrillas near Dengok village targeted a train travelling from Bitlis to Tatvan at 11:20 on August 7, in which four wagons were completely destroyed.

BATMAN

An armed action by guerrillas targeted the Tumok guard post in Kozluk district of Batman at 10:30 on August 7. At least one soldier was killed, while the number of casualties was higher but couldn't be verified.

BİNGÖL

An action by guerrillas targeted an armored vehicle on the road between Kervansaray and Hamam towns of Bingöl at 09:30 on August 7. While the armored vehicle was damaged but the number of casualties couldn't be verified, troops were dispatched to the scene in 30 armored vehicles after the action.

ERZURUM

A sabotag action by guerrillas targeted a base station in Karayazı district of Erzurum at 00:00 on August 7, which left it comletely destroyed and out of use.

AĞRI

Guerrillas burned down four trucks and a lorry near Zorova village on the road between Çaldıran district of Van and Bazid district of Ağrı at 08:50 on August 7.

An armed action by guerrillas targeted a Turkish troop moving to a hill in the same region, as a result of which two soldiers were killed but the number of casualties couldn't be verified. Three helicopters of the Turkish army opened fire on the area after the action.

Three other soldiers were killed in a following action that targeted an armored vehicle that came to the scene for intervention at 14:00 in the afternoon.

An action by guerrillas targeted the TRT central station in Eleşkirt district of Ağrı, but the number of casualties couldn't be verified. Guerrillas hold control over the area of the TRT central station which was completely destroyed in the action after the soldiers keeping guard were hit.

An action by guerrillas targeted the Şili guard post located between Bazid district of Ağrı and Iran at 10:40 on August 7. While the guard post was damaged, the casualties couldn't be ascertained.

Turkish troops shelled the surrounding areas after the action, and started a fire which still continues.

'GUERRILLAS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE EVENTS IN SİLOPİ'

Denying involvement in Three helicopters of the Turkish army opened fire on the area after the action, HPG said; ''Turkish press are reporting news that PKK forces opened fire on police in Silopi and Cizre. HPG forces have nothing to do with the events in the mentioned district centers where the people and youths manifested fair reaction to the police operation against detention operations.''
