HPG: 12 soldiers killed in South and North Kurdistan

Guerrilla forces raided a military camp of the Turkish army in Heftanin and destroyed four positions. There were also actions in the guerrilla areas of Xakurke and Besta, and a total of twelve soldiers were killed.

The Press Centre of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) has issued a statement providing details on the latest guerrilla actions in South and North Kurdistan.

HEFTANIN

In the course of the ongoing guerrilla offensive ‘Battle of Heftanin’ against the occupation by the Turkish military in Heftanin region in the Medya Defense Zones, a comprehensive action took place on 25 April at 4.30 a.m. on Hill Şehîd Şêxmus.

Guerrillas raided the Turkish military positions from two sides, said HPG and detailed the action as follows: "Four enemy positions on the hill were infiltrated and completely destroyed. Nine soldiers were killed and two MPT-55 weapons, two thermal binoculars and a radio were seized. In addition, two A-4 heavy weapons, three surveillance cameras and a telescopic binocular were destroyed. Three of our friends who heroically fought against the enemy unit during the action lost their life. The identities of the fallen friends will be published at a later date.”

XAKURKE

On April 26th, at 1.30 a.m., a military camp of the Turkish army was hit by guerrillas on Hill Lêlîkan in Xakurke. One soldier was killed in the action. According to HPG, the guerrilla group involved was able to retreat without losses.

ŞIRNAK

On 23 April, guerrillas targeted the soldiers of the Turkish army in the countryside of Şırnak province in North Kurdistan. Two soldiers were killed during the action in Eyşedinkê area in the Besta region. The guerrilla unit managed to retreat without any losses in this area as well.
