Police forces conducted a house-raid operation in Hizan district of Bitlis early this morning following yesterday's declaration of self-governance in response to the ongoing attacks by forces of the Turkish state against Kurdish people.

Hizan Democratic People's Assembly Co-chair Kader Sönmez who was also detained in the operation was taken to police department from which she was referred to the prosecutor’s office.

After her following referral to a court, Sönmez was remanded in custody on alleged grounds of “membership to an organisation”. She will reportedly be sent to Bitlis Closed Prison.
