HDP MPs in Dersim against forest fires

HDP MPs have arrived in Dersim to visit the forest fire areas and met with representatives of institutions.

A delegation of HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) MPs arrived in Dersim today to act against the forest fires started by the state forces.

The delegation first met with activists and environmental activists from DEDEF, DAD, SMF, Partizan, Munzur Environmental Association, KESK Dersim Research Center and Pir Sultan for information on the fires.

“THE FIRES ARE DELIBERATE”

HDP Dersim Chairperson Songül Erden Şahin stated that the forests are set on fire with the excuse of operations and added that forest fires have become a yearly occurrence in Dersim. Şahin said the launch of operations in the area in the morning is a deliberate attempt to hinder the delegation.

Representatives from NGOs and environmental activists spoke about the purpose of the forest fires and the methods to put them out.
