HDP members not given mandates in Baglar, Amed

Municipal councillors elect still haven’t received their mandates in the Baglar district where the HDP won 70% of the vote.

It has been 20 days since the local elections, but the co-mayors and the 30 city council members elected to the Baglar Municipal Council from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) still haven’t received their mandates.

HDP won 30 of the 37 seats in the Baglar Municipal Council, but HDP’s Baglar Municipality Co-mayor Elect Zeyyat Ceylan and 6 council members won’t be given their mandates as per the Supreme Board of Elections (YSK) decree that persons dismissed by Statutory Decrees (KHK) won’t be able to take office.

“THE AKP CONTINUES THE CONSPIRACY”

The seats of HDP councillors who are not given their mandates will be filled by waiting candidates on HDP’s lists. Reports say AKP’s 7 councillors have already received their mandates.

“HIS NAME WILL BE WRITTEN ON THE WALL AS A THIEF”

Zubeyde Zumrut, Baglar Municipality Co-mayor Elect whose mandate is held back, said: “The AKP continues the conspiracy of the elections, and they are not yet done with their unlawful acts.”

Zumrut said the Baglar Municipality has been usurped by the AKP’s Huseyin Beyoglu, who won only 25% of the vote, and added that the HDP holds the majority in the municipal council.

Zumrut said AKP’s Beyoglu will have his name written on the walls as a thief in the distrtict and added: “The biggest theft is the theft of their will from the people.”
