Guerrilla Vejin Helmet: The PKK is a people's party

YJA Star Guerilla Vejin Helmet said: "When I looked at the KDP and PUK, I saw that they were fighting only for their own interests. The PKK, on the contrary, is a people's party."

The Kurdish people have always demonstrated great resistance in South Kurdistan. In every time, strong personalities in the people led the resistance struggle. One of these leading figure is PKK cadre Helmet (Diyar Xerib).

Helmet Diyar Xerib, who had a great influence on the people of South Kurdistan, fell a martyr as a result of a conspiracy, and this had a great impact on all Kurdistan, Europe and especially the youth of South Kurdistan.

After his martyrdom, many South Kurdistan youth went to the mountains and joined the guerrillas.

YJA Star guerrilla Vejin Helmet was born in Kirkuk. "We are the followers of our leader heval Helmet in the guerrilla ranks."

Guerrilla Vejin added: "Growing up in a city like Kirkuk was very difficult. There was a systematic repression and use of force against women. My first reaction against the system developed at that time. For this reason, the revolutionary way caught my attention. It was my childhood dream to be a revolutionary. At that time, I had a fear that the war was ending and I could no longer be revolutionary. The BAAS regime could not find a solution to the social problems of the people. The KDP and PUK were also putting pressure on people. After the ‘sale’ of Kirkuk by the KDP government in 2017 there was a great reaction among the people. I could never digest Kirkuk being sold to the enemy.''

Vejin Helmet talked about how she got to know the PKK movement: "I got to know the PKK in 2008. My continuous search was focused on meeting a party that was fighting for the freedom of the people. I really sympathized with the PKK movement when I realised that the PKK is a people's party, fighting for the people and devoting itself to the people. The KDP and PUK are only fighting for their own interests. I did not find it right for the Democrats and Komala in Rojhilat Kurdistan to fight only for the people in one part of Kurdistan. When I got to know the PKK movement, I decided to join it. It was 2017. My mother greatly supported my idea of joining and her approach helped me to head for the mountains. For me, the mountains were the place where I would reach all my hopes and dreams in line with the Leadership [Öcalan] philosophy. Together with my fighting comrades, we fight for a goal as one voice, one heart. And we will follow in the footsteps of the Leader until the end.

Mountains and Women

Guerrilla Vejin Helmet, who has been fighting for her people for 4 years in the Freedom Mountains, also spoke about the struggle carried out by women in the mountains. "Mountains and women fit each other wonderfully, - she said - there is no way to separate them from each other as they complement each other. In the beginning, I was having physical difficulties in the mountains, but I got used to the mountains in time. I compare it to the devotion of a mother and a child. The Leader says, ‘Should everyone leaves the mountains, women shouldn’t.’ The mountains of Kurdistan are known for their beauty. When people come to the mountains, they become truly free."

At the end of our conversation, guerrilla Vejin Helmet called on people the youth: "I call on all women of Kurdistan to unite in reclaiming the freedom of our Leader and Kurdistan. The way to freedom is the ideology of Leader Apo. Come to the mountains, let's fight hand in hand not only for one people, but for all peoples."
