Gerîla TV released footage of the Şehîd Melsa Mûş Revolutionary Operation carried out by the guerrillas on 23 December in the Zap region in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
In a statement providing details about the operation, the Press Office of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) said the following:
On 23 December at 17:00, the Şehîd Melsa Mûş Revolutionary Operation was carried out against the invaders positioned on two hills in Kurojahro Resistance Area. The first arm of the revolutionary operation, which started with an infiltration tactic from three sides, infiltrated into the positions of the invaders and effectively hit the invaders in the positions with grenades and individual weapons. The first operation arm completely destroyed 3 positions and entered the positions. Here, the bodies of 3 invaders were searched and 1 BKC medium automatic weapon, 1 MPT-55 individual weapon and 1 weapon binoculars were confiscated.
The second arm of the revolutionary operation targeted the tents and positions of the invaders with grenades, individual and medium automatic weapons. Here, 3 invaders were punished and 1 invader who was wounded had to leave their positions and flee. In addition, 3 positions and 4 tents were completely destroyed.
The third arm of the revolutionary operation targeted a camellia, tents and positions where the invaders gathered with medium automatic weapons. The 12 invaders gathered together were effectively targeted and shot. The camellia was completely destroyed and the 12 invaders inside were punished. At the same time, 1 surveillance camera system was destroyed.
In the Martyr Melsa Mûş Revolutionary Operation, a total of 18 invaders were punished and 1 invader was wounded. 1 BKC medium automatic weapon, 1 MPT-55 individual weapon and 1 weapon scope were confiscated from the punished invaders. In addition, 6 positions, 4 tents, 1 camellia and 1 mobile camera system were destroyed. The enemy force on the two hills targeted in the revolutionary operation was completely liquidated, and the remaining occupiers had to leave their positions and flee. Later, these two hills, where the bodies of the invaders remained, were heavily bombed by the occupying Turkish army so that they would not completely fall under the control of our forces.
Our guerrilla force successfully carried out this revolutionary operation without any casualties and dedicated it to our comrade Melsa Mûş, one of the pioneer commanders of Zap."
