Demirtas called for civil action against Turkish military operations

President of Peace and Democracy Party (BPD) Selahattin Demirtas said 649 NGO's that called for a ceasefire must act against ongoing Turkish military operations against Kurdish guerrillas.

Turkish actions are sabotaging the unilateral ceasefire declared by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) Demirtas said.

A total of 649 NGO's made a call to the PKK for unilateral ceasefire and called Turkish army to stop the military operations in Kurdish mountains.

PKK declared an unilateral ceasefire last week but Turkish military operations continue since then.

Turkish army conducted at least four major military operations and bombarded PKK bases near the Turkey-Iraq border.

Two Kurdish guerrillas are killed in an ambush by the military on Thursday.

In a party meeting in Cizre, Demirtas said Turkish government must make an explanation of the military actions that will provoke PKK to end the ceasefire.

"We have to do whatever we can to stop this. They are sabotaging the ceasefire" he said.
