Damage from the earthquake on the rise in Rojhilat villages

Damage from the earthquake has reached alarming levels in the villages of Eastern Kurdistan. The death toll is estimated to be around 500.

In the disastrous earthquake in Sulaymaniyah, many people have lost their lives and many buildings were damaged in Kirmanshan, Kasr-i Shirin and their neighboring villages. The death toll is still rising in towns and districts like Kirmanshan, Qasr-e Shirin, Serpol Zehap, Ezgele, Dalaho, Selas Bawecani. As rescue units reach villages and hamlets under towns and districts, the true calamity is revealed.

In the aftermath of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Sulaymaniyah, some villages in Eastern Kurdistan had still not been reached until yesterday. Units reached several villages in Kirmanshan last night.

5 bodies and more than 10 injured people were discovered in the Niwakar village last night.

The village has suffered great destruction and the villagers spent the night outside, while there are still people trapped under the fallen buildings. The loss of life is estimated at around 500.

AID CAMPAIGNS

Meanwhile, calls for solidarity with the victims of the earthquake issued by the KCK and Heyva Sor have been answered en masse in Eastern Kurdistan. Provinces, towns and districts like Sine, Meriwan, Kamyaran, Divulan, Shaho and many others have mobilized for solidarity. Convoys of vital needs like food, tents and blankets have set out from these places to areas in Kirmanshan, Qasr-e Shirin and Dalaho affected worst by the disaster.
