Clashes along the border: helicopter hit by Kurdish guerrilla

Because ongoing clashes between Turkish army and Kurdish guerrillas in the North and South Kurdistan border area a Turkish helicopter was hit and many soldier were died or injured, said HPG.

According to a press release by the HPG (People Defence Forces) press Liasion centre (BIM), on the morning of 7the June, in the North and South Kurdistan border area clashes erupted between guerrillas and Turkish army. After bombing the area with helicopters Turkish soldiers tried to cross the border. Clashes followed, the guerrillas used heavy arms like B7, and a Turkish helicopter was hit and was forced to live the area.  According to BIM, as a consequence of this incident an unknown number of soldiers were killed or injured.  

BIM said that the Turkish army was trying to capture the strategic important areas of Small Gare and Ertus hill and that the operations in the area are still continuing.  

According to BIM, the Turkish army has yesterday bombarded the area of Zirve village and Nevala Mahmut in Besta of Sirnak. The Turkish military operations which started on 7th of June in the Basta area are continuing.

Meanwhile, BIM informed that yesterday Turkish army has carried two mortar attacks against Haftanin area in South Kurdistan. Furthermore, BIM said that yesterday there were no air strike in Xakurke area and called the so called air strike a fabrication of Turkish press.
