People’s Defence Forces (HPG) Press Office has reported in a written statement that the increased bombardments by Turkish military on Medya Defence Zones continue.

The statement of the HPG said the Turkish military intensely bombarded the Martyr Kendal area of Haftanin with mortar and howitzer fires and tanks. Guerrilla forces opened fire in response to the bombardment which was launched from Çete military post at between 11:30 and 12:30. Turkish air force carried out reconnaissance flights over the same areas the same day.

Moreover, the Turkish forces carried out bombardments with mortar and howitzer fires on Hill Çete, Hill Martyr Mervan, Martyr Şexmus and Hill Dere Davetita areas at between 10:00 and 11:00 this morning.

HPG stated that the Turkish aerial forces carried out drone flights over Avashin area of Medya Defence Zones at between 12:00, 4 July and 11:00, 5 July. In the meantime, the forest fire in Martyr Gafur hill started by the mortar fires of Turkish soldiers continues, said the HPG.

HPG further reported that Turkish forces carried out drone activities over Metina area at between 13:00 - 17:00 and 22:00 - 23:30 on July 4; over Karakoçan area of Elazığ at between 22:30 on 4 July and 01:00 on 5 July; over Zap region at between 22:30 on 4 July and 01:00 on 5 July. Meanwhile, war planes activity took place over the border line of the Zap region at between 00:00 - 01:00 on 5 July, the HPG lastly reported.
