Body of HPG guerrilla taken from the border

The body of HPG guerrilla Mehmet Korkmaz (Bawer Garzan), who lost his life in clashes in Sinjar, has been received today at the Senyurt border gate in the Kızıltepe district of Mardin.

The body of HPG guerrilla Mehmet Korkmaz (Bawer Garzan), who lost his life in clashes in Sinjar, has been received today at the Senyurt border gate in the Kızıltepe district of Mardin.

Mehmet Korkmaz was wounded in clashes with ISIS gangs within the framework of operations launched to liberate Sinjar by the HPG and YBŞ forces, and he passed away on 17 February. His body was taken at the border by his family today, accompanied by executives of HDP and DBP Mardin and Kızıltepe branches, co-mayors of Kızıltepe, members of the Peace Mothers and representatives from MEYA-DER and KURDİ-DER.

Korkmaz’s body was then taken to the Mardin Public Hospital for procedures by a convoy of people chanting the slogans: “Martyrs are immortal “and “Long live the HPG”.

The funeral of Korkmaz will take place in the Hizan district of Bitlis after the procedures at the hospital in Mardin have been completed.
