Bodies of 13 YPG/YPJ fighters and HPG guerrillas that have been kept at Khabur border gate between South and North Kurdistan since July 26 were finally allowed access into North Kurdistan late Tuesday evening.
The bodies of 13 freedom fighters were first held by KDP security forces at Semelka Border Gate for one day at July 26, after which they were enabled entry into South Kurdistan where they have been kept since as Turkish authorities refused to hand over the bodies of deceased fighters to their families.
The freedom fighters whose bodies were denied entry into Turkey after their martyrdom in the fight against ISIS in Rojava and Shengal are HPG guerrillas Mesut Pusat (Kurtay Cûdî) and Mehmet Koç (Çiya Agirî), YPG/YPJ fighters Cahit Çapan (Berxwedan Besta), Veysi Cin (Mêrxaz Kato), Fidan Yalçın (Jiyanda Çarçela), Cumhur Turan (Êrîş Colemêrg), Mumin Kasap (Bager Farqîn), Kevin Jochim (Dilsoz Bahar), Ferit Öner (Berxwedan Eylem), Ragip Yildiz (Derweş Patnos), Mehmet Bulun (Dilbirîn Qoser), Ferit Coşkun (Serhed Botan) and Nuri Aydın (Welat Mûnzûr).
Turkey finally allowed the bodies' delivery yesterday night following a week-long protest and resistance by their families in Başverimli (Tiqabin) town of Şırnak's Silopi district and efforts by deputies of the HDP.
Following the procedures at the border gate, HPG guerrilla Mesut Pusat will be laid to rest in Silopi, Mehmet Koç in Ağrı, YPG/YPJ fighters Cahit Çapan in Şırnak, Veysi Cin in Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak, Fidan Yalçın and Cumhur Turan in Hakkari, Mumin Kasap and Ferit Öner in Amed, Ragip Yildız in Patnos district of Ağrı, Mehmet Bulun in Mardin, Ferit Coşkun in Ceylanpıınar district of Urfa and Nuri Aydın in Muş.
