Kurdish football club Amed SK won a thrilling but goalless match against Menemenspor from İzmir to secure promotion to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) 1st League. The club from the Kurdish resistance stronghold of Amed (tr. Diyarbakır) has thus been promoted to the TFF First League, the second-highest professional division in Turkish football, for the first time in the club's history.

In front of more than 32,000 spectators in the "Diyarbakır Stadyumu" arena, which was sold out except for a few seats, there was triumphant enthusiasm after the final game of the season. While the Amed SK players celebrated their promotion, numerous fans took the opportunity to join in the celebrations. They stormed onto the pitch, hugged the players and coach Mesut Bakkal and sang the song "Diren Ha Diyarbekir" (Resist, Diyarbakır).

Meanwhile, the streets of Amed are filled with horn concerts, motorcades and drums and trumpets. Together with thousands of supporters, the players want to celebrate the rise of their club late into the night.
