306 schools provide mother-tongue education in Efrîn Canton

The education system in three cantons of Rojava, West Kurdistan, is getting more organized day by day. 1625 teachers in Efrîn Canton are providing service for mother-tongue education, one of the major gains of the Rojava revolution.

As the education services run by Efrîn Canton's Democratic Society Education Committee are being institutionalized gradually, 1625 teachers in 306 schools are providing service in the entire canton, according to the figures released by the Committee.

The 2015-2016 school year began on September 28 on the basis of new amendments in the education system that focused on provision of education in mother tongue. 31 thousand students have enrolled in primary schools in the new school year.

Kurdish Language and Education Institution and Democratic Society Education Committee in the canton have trained 1625 teachers for 306 schools. 100 of these teachers have been prepared to give lessons in Arabic.

Democratic Society Education Committee has distributed uniforms and school books for 31 thousand students at primary schools free of charge.
