The Co-Presidency of the Confederation of Kurdistan Communities (KON-MED) in Germany issued a written statement regarding the massacre in Hanau, a year ago. Calling for participation in the commemoration to be held today, the statement said: "Exactly one year ago, 9 people were killed as a result of the right-wing terrorist attack in the city of Hanau. Two of the young people killed in the attack were Kurds.”

The statement recalled that “right-wing and racist rhetoric is poisoning the society. The killer, Tobias Rathjen, in a note he left behind, stated that he wanted to exterminate the peoples that could not be expelled from Germany. We now expect the government and parties to review their own politics on security and immigration, and therefore to abandon the policy of massacre against all the representatives of the society who defend peace, freedom, democracy and the common values ​​of the peoples, especially the institutions of the Kurdish people, other freedom, peace and democracy.”
