Women prisoners: On hunger strike to break isolation of Öcalan

Women prisoners on hunger strike said the aim of their action is to break the isolation imposed on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan. "The aim is the freedom of our Leader," they said.

Today is the 6th  day of the indefinite alternating hunger strikes launched in prisons against the aggravated isolation and prison conditions imposed on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan. The prisoners on hunger strike in Tarsus Women's Closed Prison sent messages through their families.

The second group of women who went on hunger strike are former co-mayor of Savur Gülistan Öncü, Elif Akçaren and Zelal Karayi. The three women called on everybody to support the hunger strikes and said: "The aim of our action is the freedom of our Leader."
