Solitary confinment punishment for prisoners on hunger strike

The Antalya L Type Closed Prison administration launched an investigation on the grounds of "making propaganda for an illegal organization" against prisoners on hunger strike and sentenced them to 11 days in solitary confinement.

An investigation was launched against women prisoners on hunger strike in Antalya L Type Closed Prison on the grounds of "making propaganda for an illegal organization". The prison administration sentenced the prisoners to 11 days in solitary confinement.

The prisoners shared the news of the punishment with the public through a letter sent to Jinnews. The prisoners stated that the prison administration, citing the hunger strike action, imposed Nida Kutlu, Hatice Çakmak and Şükran Özer 11 days of solitary confinement for "making propaganda for an illegal organization".

On the other hand, the prisoners complained about the letters reaching them with long delays and added that they also have problems in communication.

One of the biggest complaints of the prisoners is that magazines and books are not given to them. The prison administration, which prohibited the collection of magazines sent by post, also seized the books sent to prisoners because of words quoted by the author.
