Sick prisoner on hunger strike against isolation

Three prisoners are on hunger strike together with sick prisoner Hadi Elçiçek, in Tarsus No 2 T Type Closed Prison.

The indefinite and alternate hunger strike launched on 27 Novembe in Turkish jails to protest the isolation on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan continues on its 29th day.

Three prisoners in Mersin Tarsus No 2 T Type Closed Prison took over the hunger strike as part of the 6th group. Hadi Elçiçek (51), who suffer from heart problems, told his family in his weekly phone call, that 3 prisoners began a 5-day hunger strike with him.

Elçiçek said: "As a ill prisoner, I started a hunger strike to end the isolation of Öcalan. Our struggle will continue until the isolation is lifted."
