Revolutionary Party: We support Kurdish struggle for freedom and democracy

The United Revolutionary Party affirmed its support for the Kurdish people's freedom and democracy struggle in response to the PKK's 12th Congress decisions.

In the statement published by the Central Executive Committee of the United Revolutionary Party, it was stated that the current process marks a new political phase: "[Armed struggle] has historically been a legitimate and just form of resistance.

The United Revolutionary Party added: "Armed struggle was a necessary and justified choice under the oppressive conditions of the time. Today, the emphasis on democratic forms of struggle is a choice of the Kurdish movement and equally the result of a political will; it represents a new form taken by the Kurdish freedom movement and its dialogue with the state."

The statement also said: "True democratization is only possible through the collapse of the fascist bloc of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), and the establishment of a Turkey where democratic peoples have a genuine voice." It emphasized that the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom must converge with the liberation of the Turkish working class on a common ground. The statement further highlighted the need for this joint struggle to advance along an anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist line.

The statement also referenced Lenin’s principle of "the right of nations to self-determination," affirming that the Kurdish people’s unconditional right to determine their own political future must be recognized. It stressed that the struggle must not only target the ruling alliance of the AKP and the MHP, but also the broader imperialist-capitalist system.

The statement continued: "Although forms of struggle may change, we stand with the Kurdish people’s demands for freedom and democracy, based on their right to self-determination. This new era is one in which the right to self-determination must be organized on the basis of socialist principles, on revolutionary and class grounds, and embraced in the streets through the united struggle of the oppressed. Our determination for solidarity, revolutionary principles, and organized struggle remains unwavering. In the streets, in parliament, in the fields, in factories, we will stand shoulder to shoulder to strengthen the collective struggle of the peoples everywhere."
