KONGRA–GEL co-chair Remzi Kartal issued a correction, clarifying that when he referred to Öcalan participating in the PKK congress via teleconference, he was actually referring to the message he delivered on 27 February.
In a program aired on Stêrk TV and Medya Haber, KONGRA-GEL co-chair Remzi Kartal spoke about the PKK’s congress. He clarified that his remarks about Abdullah Öcalan participating via teleconference had been misunderstood.
Speaking on Medya Haber, Kartal said: "There was a misunderstanding in my statements. A correction is needed. I intended to refer to the video message that Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] delivered on 27 February. In that message, he already conveys the points necessary to advance the process. I might have given the impression that a separate teleconference took place, which wasn’t the case. I felt the need to correct that. I did not participate in the congress. It was held under different circumstances. We learned about it through the press. The ‘teleconference’ was a misunderstanding. I was referring to the message delivered on 27 February."
