Leyla Güven is in Diyarbakır Women's Closed Prison

DTK co-chair Leyla Güven, who was sentenced to 22 years in prison, has been sent to Diyarbakır Women's Closed Prison.

Leyla Güven, who was sentenced to 22 years and 3 months in prison after the trial held in Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court on Monday and which charged her because of her political works and speeches she carried out as co-chair of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK), has been detained on Monday night.

Güven, who spent the night in Diyarbakır Provincial Security Directorate TEM Branch, was taken to the courthouse in the morning.

Many politicians, including DTK co-chair Berdan Öztürk, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chair Keskin Bayindir, came to the courthouse.

Güven called out to those who were waiting for her in front of the courthouse, "There is no problem. Work hard, I’ll be back soon."

Güven was arrested and sent to Diyarbakır Women's Closed Prison after the reading of the ruling.
