Hunger strike in prisons enters day 25

The hunger strike launched by prisoners on 27 November demanding the end of the isolation on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and the violations in prisons entered its 25th day with the 5th group.

Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan has been kept in isolation since he was captured in 1999. Political prisoners have gone on hunger strike on 27 November demanding both the end of the isolation imposed on Öcalan and the end of the continuing violations against prisoners.

The hunger strike is alternated and indefinite. Today it entered day 25 and is being carried out by the 5th group of prisoners.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Youth Assembly members reminded that "there is resistance in prisons" and in order to draw attention to the hunger strike within the framework of the "Take Action" campaign, they wrote graffitis on the walls in Arnavutköy, Istanbul, in solidarity with the prisoners.
