HDP Hakkari province co-chair Kaya: Support the hunger strike

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari Provincial co-chair Sinan Kaya called on everyone to reclaim and support the action to push for the demands of the prisoners to be met.

The indefinite-alternated hunger strike launched in all prisons on November 27 demanding the end of the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan is on its 26th day.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari Provincial co-chair Sinan Kaya called on everyone to reclaim and support the action to push for the demands of the prisoners to be met.

“The solution is Öcalan”

Kaya said that the isolation imposed upon Öcalan was also imposed on the entire society, especially the Kurds.

Kaya said that this situation is "an inhumane crime". Referring to Öcalan's deprivation of his universal rights, Kaya stated that telephone call right as well as visits with family members and lawyers are Öcalan's most natural right. Kaya pointed out that the solution to the problems in the country, especially in the Middle East, lies in Öcalan and reminded of Öcalan's road map previously presented for the solution of the problems in the Middle East.

“We need to smash isolation”

Kaya underlined the great resistance against isolation carried out in prisons and said:

"Hunger strikes are continuing indefinitely at the moment. However, this does not mean that the hunger strike will not turn into death fast. We must fulfil our responsibility now. The friends in prison are carrying out their duties and responsibilities in unity. All politicians and everyone who is conscious of national unity should act accordingly. Those who led the blocked peace process are the friends who are resisting in prison today. We need to smash the isolation imposed on Öcalan into pieces. Isolation can be smashed if people fulfil their responsabilities.”
