Guards search cells of Kurdish politicians Kocaeli Kandira prison

The cells of Kurdish politicians held in Kocaeli Kandıra No 1 F Type High Security Prison were searched.

The cells of Kurdish politicians in Kocaeli Kandıra No 1 F Type High Security Prison were searched for hours. All written materials found inside were seized. It was stated that the raid took place after Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) former Amed Deputy Çağlar Demirel announced that she was going on hunger strike.

Nurhayat Altun, former co-mayor of Dersim Municipality, said during a phone call on Saturday that the cells of Demirel, HDP co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) former co-chair Sebahat Tuncel, former co-chair of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Gülten Kışanak and many other Kurdish politicians were raided. Altun added that the notes, defenses, poetry and literature works of the politicians, as well as pens and books were seized.

On the other hand, it was learned that Kurdish politicians applied to be transferred to Imrali F Type High Security Prison, where Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan is detained.

PKK and PAJK prisoners went on a 5-day indefinite and alternating hunger strike to protest the isolation and rights violations as of November 27.
