Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Kocaeli MP, was taken to the hospital due to chest and heart pain after being taken into custody. Footages and pictures of the arrest showed that Gergerlioğlu was subjected to violence by the police when he was taken into custody.

Gergerlioğlu’s lawyer, Bişar Abdi Alınak, said: “Gergerlioğlu had just been brought to the courthouse. Due to chest and heart pain, the hospital doctor suggested that he should be taken to the cardiology department. Now we do not know in which hospital he was taken to and what kind of medical intervention was made. We have not been informed."

The deputy’ son, Salih Gergerlioğlu, said on Twitter that his father was taken to hospital and that he will have angiography.
