Agreement between the Peshmerga and Iraqi army on Hawija

Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army have signed a 5-point agreement on Hawija operation.

As the military campaign launched by the Iraqi army on September 20 to take Kirkuk's Hawija district from ISIS continues, Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army have signed a 5-point agreement in a meeting that was also attended by representatives of the international coalition to counter ISIS.

The 5 points agreed upon between the two sides are;

1- Peshmerga forces will pave the way for the Iraqi army for the Hawija campaign.

2- The Peshmerga will allow the passage of refugees from Hawija.

3- In the event of need by the Iraqi army, the 2nd unit of the Peshmerga will provide support.

4- Iraqi forces will return to their previous positions after the operation.

5- The Peshmerga will not retreat from the areas they control.

Hawija has been under the occupation of ISIS since July 2014. The Iraqi army and Hashd al-Shaabi forces launched an operation to capture the district from ISIS on 20 September.
